Dagi, Daggel and Regina bring a combined 235 years of joie de vivre to the stage. Yet, at first glance, these three entertainment legends seem to have little in common, apart from the fact that they celebrated their greatest successes in East Germany’s entertainment industry during the 1970s. It is perhaps no coincidence that the initials of their first names evoke memories of the former GDR. With that in mind, these remarkable ladies have risen from the ruins of a bygone entertainment era in a newly created show that brings their unique talents together once again.
All three artists successfully continued their careers after German reunification 35 years ago, but a collaboration like this has never existed before. Unsurprisingly, they are not exactly best friends and occasionally enjoy a little rivalry. In this production, the “Golden Girls of the East” weave their way through familiar classics and rediscovered gems, combining elegance, nostalgia, wit and charm. Whether these three spirited performers, who delight in teasing one another, will finally find their shared happy ending remains to be seen. One thing is certain: no two performances are ever quite the same.
