The flint fields, unique in Europe, are located near the village of Neu-Mukran, in the Schmale Heide nature reserve.
On almost 40 hectares, walls of grey-white flints run parallel to the Baltic Sea, one behind the other.
The flints were thrown up 3,500 to 4,000 years ago by a series of heavy storm surges. The ramparts, which are about one metre high, are broken up by a typical heath landscape with juniper bushes, wild roses, blackthorn, blueberries as well as grasses and heather - a beautiful natural experience.
