There are several hiking trails in this beautiful nature reserve. The paths must not be left. The total distance on the largest circular trail is about 6 km, so it is also ideal for children who are good on their feet.
You can also climb a few metres in altitude along the entire trail. Towards the south, there is a magnificent view of the Greifswalder Bodden, and on the other side, of the Hagensche Wiek. The highest hill in this area is 66 m high and is called Svantegard.
The terrain is very varied, you can go to the water, walk through small forests and study interesting information boards. You can't really get lost, as the path is well signposted.
Impressive plant species grow here despite or because of the harsh conditions. The Mönchgut is one of the most popular hiking areas on the island of Rügen, and a visit is absolutely recommended.
