Want to see Rügen in an individual way?

In the midst of a large contiguous beech forest area in the south-east of the island of Rügen, the Granitz hunting lodge was built between 1837 and 1846. Here, on the Tempelberg, the plastered brick building was built by the Berlin architect Johann Gottfried Steinmeyer for Prince Wilhelm Malte 1 zu Putbus.

The 38-metre-high central tower, designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, is a prominent landmark in the south-east of the island of Rügen. From here, on a clear day, you have a fantastic view over the island of Rügen.

Today, the Granitz hunting lodge is one of the most popular excursion destinations on the island of Rügen. When the weather is fine and clear, you can see the entire island from the tower of the hunting lodge.
